Embossing is produced on the workpiece consisting of two metals - and-white copper-Nickel ring, inside which copper-zinc disk. The obverse and reverse sides have a protruding on the circumference of the piping.
The obverse of the coin in the center is a depiction of the emblem of the Bank of Russia (double-headed eagle with drooping wings), still below the mark of the Leningrad mint (stylized letters "ЛМД". The white rim above the inscription: "50 РУБЛЕЙ 1993 г." below the inscription: "БАНК РОССИИ" The inscriptions are separated elements consisting of two intersecting rhombuses.
On the coin reverse in the center (the yellow disk), the image of the black sea bottlenose Dolphin jumping out of sea waves. On a circle above the inscription - "КРАСНАЯ КНИГА" below - "ЧЕРНОМОРСКАЯ АФАЛИНА" Labels separated by dots.
Refers to a series of 15 bimetal coins dedicated to the animals of the red book.

The black sea bottlenose Dolphin is the only species of dolphins inhabiting the Black sea. The population is estimated at 7 thousand individuals. Has a length of up to 3.5 meters and weights up to 300 kg. unlike other dolphins, the bottlenose dolphins is well-marked beak. They have high intelligence and a good ability to training, so is often grown for dolphinariums. In the history of known cases of domestication of dolphins to different kinds of work under water (for example as sappers).
