The obverse of the coin

depicts two of the GAZ-AA ("polutorka"), traveling on the ice of the Neva river one after another. In the background is the Peter and Paul fortress in the sky flying planes. In the right side of the road sign and the exploding projectile. On the left is the medal "gold Star". Below in a semicircle the word "ЛЕНИНГРАД"
The obverse and reverse sides have a protruding on the circumference of the piping.

The coin is issued on 4 may 2000 in honor of the 55th anniversary of the Victory. The series consists of 7 coins, each one dedicated to one of the hero cities. In 2017, the series was complemented by two more coins (Kerch and Sevastopol).
Leningrad, survived 872-day siege, was one of the first cities awarded the title hero city. It happened on may 1, 1945, but the official status was approved only for the 20th anniversary of the Victory.
