The obverse of the coin

depicts the monument to "Sailor and soldier" in Sevastopol. On a circle the inscription: top - "ОБОРОНА СЕВАСТОПОЛЯ" below - "ВЕЛИКАЯ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННАЯ ВОЙНА 1941-1945 гг."(labels separated by five-pointed stars).
The obverse and reverse sides have a protruding on the circumference of the piping.
The coin was released on 18 December 2015.
In September 1941, after the invasion of Ukraine German troops came to the Crimea, the Peninsula was strategically important for the USSR and for the enemy. The greatest resistance was provided by the Sevastopol and Kerch, which has long remained under Soviet command. For the defense of Sevastopol was sent to several assaults, the town has managed to retain until July 1942, but then the Red army resorted to forced retreat. On may 7, 1944 during the battle for Sapun mountain, Sevastopol was released.
The monument to "Sailor and soldier" you'll be on the Cape Crystal in the vicinity of Sevastopol. Opened on 8 may 2007, it was constructed from 1981 (sculptor - E. E. Bialystok, G. L. Petrashevich).
