shows part of the memorial "Sail" around Kerch. On a circle the inscription: top - "КЕРЧЕНСКО-ЭЛЬТИГЕНСКАЯ ДЕСАНТНАЯ ОПЕРАЦИЯ" below - "ВЕЛИКАЯ ОТЕЧЕСТВЕННАЯ ВОЙНА 1941-1945 гг."(labels separated by five-pointed stars).

In the autumn of 1943, Soviet troops launched an offensive on the part of the Taman Peninsula with the aim to liberate the Crimea from the enemy. 31 Oct troops were placed on ships, but the crossing through the Kerch Strait because of the storm was possible only next day. On 1 November, the troops landed near Eltigen, where he liberated a small area the size 5x2 km. Here flocked the additional troops, who in 1944 started an offensive operation.
