Ancient Russia largely copied the achievements of the Byzantine Empire was no exception to this money. Size and weight they correspond to the Byzantine, used the same production technology, but the labels were Russian, also added sign of the Prince. Currently there are only about 400 of these coins, they are considered rarities and almost all are in museums. Around the same time there are gold, copies of Byzantine gold solidi. The image on the silver and the gold are very similar. The next rulers were minted only silver coins, the latest date from the time of Yaroslav the Wise. Later, for unknown reasons, minting its own coins stops for three centuries.
